5 Key Facts To Justify Teeth Brushing At Night

The common response of a dentist to a patient is brushing the teeth twice a day i.e., before breakfast and after supper. But truly, how many of you follow this advice? Mostly people regularly brush their teeth in the morning but seldom at night because at the end of the day, they might be lazy after spending a hectic time. Others hardly believe that skipping brushing can result in harming the teeth in the longer run.
Therefore, given below are some of the key facts revealed that will surely justify the reason of tooth brushing at night.

Controls Acid Production in The Mouth

We eat a variety of food all day therefore production of acids in mouth is natural. However, these acids are neutralized by the calcium present in the saliva. As the saliva production slows down while we are sleeping therefore, the acid keeps accumulating ultimately damaging the teeth enamel and roots. If you brush your teeth at night, the fluoride will remineralize your teeth ultimately making them more resistant to acid’s effects.

Reduces Cavities

When you don’t tooth brush at night the food particles along with the bacteria start forming a sticky substance called plaque on the surface of your teeth. Thus, the continuous poor brushing results in cavity formation and tooth decay. Besides cavities, the trapped food particles may also result in various other oral diseases.

Prevents Gum Disease

Gum diseases are also result of the poor oral hygiene. The acid production in the mouth can cause gum inflammation and even if not treated on time, these may result in gingivitis.

Stops Teeth discoloration

A smile enhances your face value but if your teeth are yellow or decayed, then you may lose your confidence. Therefore, brushing your teeth twice a day is very essential.

Keeps up Overall Body Health

Maintaining oral hygiene by cleaning up your teeth twice a day, you can maintain your overall health. If you have any kind of oral issue, this ultimately affects your eating and certainly the body’s health too. It has been proved from different studies that brushing at night may be a step to prevent heart attack because the bacteria accumulated in mouth while sleeping may travel down to your bloodstream ultimately resulting in cholesterol and heart attacks.
